The Global Ethics & Compliance Attorney will provide legal expertise and counsel to the business relating to global compliance and regulatory matters and will help support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organization’s ethics and compliance programs. The attorney will support various ethics and compliance training programs, and will also be asked to provide legal advice and counsel concerning global laws and regulations applicable to the business, including those related to anti-corruption and sanctions. This role requires subject matter expertise and an understanding of corporate compliance programs, global legal frameworks, and regulatory compliance. This individual will work with colleagues across multiple business functions to advance the company’s compliance programs and to support the business in executing against its operational and strategic decisions and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Policy Governance: Draft, review, update and manage administration of Code of Conduct, as well as certain other enterprise policies. Help ensure compliance policies align with evolving laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Records Management: Develop and maintain records management policies and retention schedules. Provide advice, counsel, and support across business functions.
  • Training & Education: Support the design, development and deployment of ethics and compliance training. Collaboration with learning and development team and others to drive training content and deployment approaches.
  • Global Regulatory Engagement: Help track global laws and regulations relevant to the business. Provide legal counsel on international and domestic regulatory and compliance matters. Collaborate with legal, Finance, HR, and operational teams to support compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Analyze complex business and legal issues and communicate legal advice and risk in a clear and concise fashion
  • Evaluate effectiveness of processes, solutions, programs, and technology to ensure compliance standards are maintained
  • Effectively communicate and recommend strategies, decisions, key insights, potential risks, and innovative action plans to drive continuous improvement in compliance programs
  • Engage with and manage outside counsel as necessary

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience with a law firm and/or in-house counsel experience in compliance; experience supporting multinational/global organizations preferred
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills; Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with cross-functional business partners
  • Practical critical thinking skills, including strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines while managing a high volume of work against competing priorities
  • Conduct all work in an ethical, honest, professional, and confidential manner

Education

  • Degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing with any U.S. state bar
