The Senior Attorney, Regulatory, will provide counsel to the Company’s business teams on regulatory matters related to product development, integrity, safety, and environmental compliance. Areas of subject matter expertise include product claim substantiation, labeling, regulations governing product development and safety, extended producer responsibility, packaging, and associated risk assessments. This individual will collaborate across multiple business functions to support operational and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal guidance and consultation to ensure product compliance with applicable Consumer Product Safety Commission, Food and Drug Administration, Federal Trade Commission, and Environmental Protection Agency regulations and similar state laws and regulations. Key responsibilities and areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
· Advise on product claim substantiation and labeling requirements.
· Provide counsel on environmental laws and regulations.
· Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to anticipate and respond to changes in the regulatory and litigation landscape and develop solutions to mitigate risk.
· Address potential issues related to product ingredients, integrity, and safety.
· Analyze complex legal and business issues and communicate risk assessments and legal advice clearly and concisely.
· Evaluate the effectiveness of compliance processes, programs, and technologies.
· Provide legal input on policy development and training initiatives.
· Manage and engage outside counsel as needed.
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in regulatory compliance, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house counsel roles supporting consumer packaged goods businesses.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high volume of work.
· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
· Demonstrated ability to take independent, decisive action while managing multiple priorities.
· Commitment to conducting work in an ethical, professional, and confidential manner.
Education:
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing with any U.S. state bar
