Overview

The Digital Product Owner (PO) is a manager-level role responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and optimization of Payment, Tax, and Fraud platforms. This PO will play a critical role in integrating and maintaining seamless connections across the Point of Sale, Order Management System, and website, establishing consistent payment, tax, and fraud compliance across all channels.

As the voice of the business, the PO will gather requirements, define priorities, and ensure seamless integrations across stores, e-commerce, and omnichannel experiences. They will work closely with engineering, finance, legal, risk, and compliance teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions that minimize fraud risk, enhance transaction efficiency, and support evolving regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the product vision and roadmap for Payment, Tax, and Fraud Platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance requirements.
  • Develop a migration strategy to transition digital transactions from Radial OMS to Aurus Payment Gateway and Vertex Tax solutions while ensuring business continuity.
  • Lead the RFP, vendor selection, and implementation of a new fraud solution to mitigate chargebacks and fraudulent transactions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging fintech innovations (e.g., real-time payments, tokenization, PSD2, SCA).
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Audit, and Brand Protection teams to ensure regulatory compliance (PCI-DSS, GDPR, PSD2, CCPA) and fraud prevention strategies.
  • Work with Retail Operations, Digital Commerce, and Customer Service teams to enhance payment workflows and self-service reporting tools.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Payment, Tax, and Fraud inquiries, supporting business teams with data-driven insights.
  • Translate business needs into clear product requirements, epics, and user stories for engineering teams.
  • Prioritize and handle the product backlog, balancing feature development, compliance needs, and technical debt.
  • Work closely with engineering teams and third-party vendors to ensure seamless integrations with POS, OMS, CRM, and financial reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Exceleration Office to handle dependencies and maintain alignment with BBW’s broader digital transformation initiatives.
  • Develop real-time dashboards for Payment, Tax, and Fraud metrics, enabling self-service access for finance, risk, and operations teams.
  • Leverage data analytics and machine learning models to identify fraud patterns, optimize authorization rates, and reduce chargebacks.
  • Conduct A/B testing and monitoring to enhance customer checkout experiences while maintaining security and compliance.
  • Define and track critical metrics for transaction success rates, fraud reduction, tax accuracy, and payment processing efficiency.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships, including Aurus (Payments), Vertex (Tax), and future fraud solution providers.
  • Ensure vendors meet SLAs, security, and compliance standards, working closely with legal and procurement teams.
  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes and industry certifications, ensuring all platforms align with PCI-DSS, EMV, GDPR, CCPA, and tax regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a Product Analyst supporting Payment, Tax, and Fraud initiatives.
  • Oversee platform stability and operational integrity, ensuring SLAs for uptime, transaction success rates, and chargeback management.
  • Provide on-call support for critical incidents, collaborating with engineering, finance, and operations teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, fintech, payments, tax technology, fraud prevention, or a related function.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, including managing direct reports or leading cross-functional teams.
  • 3+ years working in Agile SDLC environments, including Scrum or SAFe frameworks.
  • Strong technical understanding of payment gateways, tax engines, and fraud prevention platforms, with the ability to translate complex details into business terms.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills across technology teams, business partners, and external vendors.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with finance, legal, risk, and operations teams to align technology capabilities with business needs.
  • General business and financial acumen, with the ability to assess platform value and operational efficiencies.
  • High curiosity, problem-solving, and learning orientation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Aurus Payment Gateway, Vertex Tax Engine, and fraud prevention solutions (e.g., Riskified, Signifyd, Kount, Sift).
  • Knowledge of payment processing ecosystems, including BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later), digital wallets, real-time payments, tokenization, and chargeback management.
  • Experience integrating payment and tax solutions with ERP, POS, OMS, CRM, or loyalty platforms.
  • Familiarity with fraud detection techniques, machine learning models, and risk scoring methodologies.
  • Jira and Confluence experience for backlog management and documentation.
  • Experience in fast-paced direct retail, e-commerce, or fintech environments.
  • Diverse work experience and background in digital commerce, payments, risk management, or financial technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, finance, or a related field.
